Sonu won at 56th Idea Filmfare Awards (South) PDF

 

TOI-sonu_090801.jpegMoggina Manasu swept the 56th Idea Annual Filmfare Award South (Kannada) by bagging five of the 11 awards. Gaalipata, directed by Yograj Bhat, won three awards. The remaining two have been bagged by playback singers Sonu Niigaam and Shreya Ghoshal (Mussanje Maathu) with S Krishna bagging the Best Cinematographer Award for Haage Summane, directed by Preetham Gubbi.

At a colourful function held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre here on Friday evening, the winners received the awards to much applause from celebrities of the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industries.

While Shashank received the Best Director award for Moggina Manasu, Radhika Pandith (Best Actress), Shubha Poonja (Best Supporting Actress) and E Krishnappa (Best Movie) walked away with the coveted award for the same movie.

Yash is the winner of the Best Supporting Actor (Moggina Manasu) award.

Moggina Manasu revolves around four teenage girls who dream of a romantic life on campus, but end up with bitter experiences. "The story narrates the mindset of young girls and their behaviour. It is a story that every family faces,'' says Shashank.

For Radhika Pandit, the lead role was challenging. "This is my first movie. To win Best Actress award is something I will cherish throughout my life. It is a great moment to hold that Black Lady in my hands,'' says Radhika.Shubha Poonja dedicated the award to her fans. "They are always an encouragement. It is a great and thrilling moment in my life to receive the award. The credit goes to the entire team of Moggina Manasu.''

For Golden Star Ganesh, "It is an exciting moment to get my first Filmfare award for acting in Gaalipata.

It will find a prominent place in my showcase. It is a great moment in my life. My ambition is to have many Filmfares in my showcase.''

While V Harikrishna has bagged the Best Music award for Gaalipata, Jayanth Kaikini won for Best Lyricist for his lyric Minchaagi Neenu Baralu... for the same movie.

The Best Playback singers award has been bagged by Sonu Niigaam for Yenagali munde saagu nee... and Shreya Ghoshal for Ninna Nodalenthu... penned by music director V Shridhar for Mussanje Maathu.
